MY STYLE:
I am a wedding and elopement photographer based in Scotland. Willing to capture the most important moments of your life, feelings and the awesomeness of your relationship. I am always trying to show your true emotions, that’s why I prefer a documentary and journalistic style of photography. However, the best way to get to know more about my style is to check out the full photo story from any of the weddings I’ve shot:Wedding Stories.
In 2019 I’ve been chosen and added to Junebug’s World’s Best Wedding Photographers and that way make it into the list of best Scottish Wedding Photographers.
Below is what they said about my style and work:
“Mike’s aim, first and foremost, is to document whatever is most important to you. Nothing takes precedence to you feeling at ease and confident on your wedding day; he works dedicatedly to document your story with artistry and truth, while you are left to experience the moments. Mike’s background in landscape photography provides him with a unique set of skills and perspective while operating as a wedding photographer. He focuses on capturing the natural beauty of his surroundings with as little interference as possible, creating journalistic coverage that is candid, raw, and real. With photos rich in color and surreal in feeling, Mike is a one-of-a-kind photographer for your priceless moments.”

ELOPEMENTS:
If you’re planning something a little different, a bit extravagant or slightly unconventional then certainly drop me a message. Mountains, sand dunes, islands… no matter the location – for me it’s never too far, too high or too early. You’re not just investing in pictures, you’re investing in an experience and memories that last a lifetime.
Quite often elopements are the most compelling and the greatest experiences. Romantic, intimate and with unique atmosphere. I can assure you of my support throughout the entire process of planning your dreamy elopement. I’m an outdoorsy guy who loves climbing and hiking and I do it as often as I can, mostly in the Scottish Highlands (but not only). I’ve been many times to places like Glencoe, Isle of Skye, Torridon and Isle of Harris (see more HERE). I covered weddings and elopements there as well so I’m always ready to help you find the best place and location to have that incredible and stunning backdrop for your elopement. Just name the place and we can start arranging the trip. Let me make your memories last.
Can’t wait to hear about your plans and ideas!

Frequently Asked Questions
We don’t like to pose for photographs, or even to have our photos taken, is it going to be a problem?
Neither do I! Actually, I don’t know many people who do. And it’s never a problem, especially if you decide to have a brief pre-wedding photo shoot when we meet the first time, included in my package. The reason is for you to see there is nothing to worry about. I never pressure or pose my couples in an uncomfortable way, and all you have to do is to be there together, the way you always are. And with my journalistic style, when I am capturing your candid moments on the big day, you probably won’t even notice me most of the time.
Your journalistic style is great, but we would also like to have some group photos with our family and friends, could you do that?
It’s not a problem at all. I can help you to prepare a list with group photo shots you’d like to have taken on the day so we can deal with that quickly and struggle free. So you can enjoy the rest of your wedding and not spend too much time on taking group shots. And how long will you be there for us? To tell the whole story of your day I will start with you getting ready, and stay till the first few dances. I don’t want to miss out on anything, so if you need me longer, we can always discuss everything to suit all your needs.
How many photographs will we receive from you?
You will get photographs with all important moments from the day. The minimum of 500 photos. I found it sufficient to tell the story from the entire day in an interesting way. I don’t like to copy every frame and show the same thing over and over for the sake of photograph’s number.
And when will we get our photos? How are you going to deliver them?
Your photos will be available after 6-8 weeks in a password protected online gallery from which you can order prints as well. Apart from that you will receive a wooden box with USB stick with all your photographs along with some of my favourite prints. It’ll be delivered to your doorstep after the online gallery goes live.
Where are you based and does it impact the area you cover?
I am based in Aberdeenshire, but I cover anywhere in Scotland. As a destination photographer I get excited to hear about a place I’ve not shot before, so if you’re thinking about somewhere further, just message me and I am sure we can come up with a plan.
So we’d like to book you, how can we secure you for our wedding?
It’s always a great idea to meet and have a chat about your big day and what you hope for the most. If for some reason that’s impossible or after seeing my portfolio you are 100% sure I am your photographer, then all is needed is £500 non-refundable deposit and your date is booked.
Did We see you somewhere else before?
You might have, yes. You can quite frequently meet me hiking up Munro’s in Scotland, trying to catch Scotland’s landscapes beauty. Back in my town, Banchory, I do shoot events in The Barn Arts centre and if you happen to be there for one of the gigs, you can always say hi to me before the show. Apart from that, I collaborate as a Tribe Lab Editor with Tribe Photo Co – who makes lightroom presets/profiles for creative photographers from all around the world, so you might have seen my photos on their social media as well.
